We are immensely proud to pioneer St Mary’s Hospice Pay for a Day Campaign in 2022!

Since 1988 St Mary’s Hospice has been open to patients and their loved ones. Now, more than ever the charity needs our support to keep on providing care, comfort and support to the patients, their families and carers. The incredible team of staff and volunteers help with end of life care, symptom management, Living Well services, respite care and family bereavement support.

St Mary’s Hospice is a charity and their services are free of charge to our community but they are not free to provide.

It costs over £3.5 million a year to keep the hospice running, with less than 18% of their costs being covered by the NHS.

This equates to £9.5k a day 🤯.

This means that 8 out of 10 of the patients they care for in 2022 will be directly funded by our community.

Our Pitch Up Promise for 2022 is to help St Mary’s continue to be here for our loved ones when they need them most.
Our aim is to help pay for as many days as possible.

Jeff and Sharon Wall have kicked off our fundraising for St Mary's Hospice this year.

Jeff recently closed his candle manufacturing facility, Cera Candles, after several successful years operating in Barrow-in-Furness.

Jeff gave away his candle stock to friends and family and also sold some of it off to raise money for the Hospice.

He also gave most of his warehouse furniture away to help other local businesses.

Through Jeff and Sharon's own personal very stressful time – their first thought was to help others.

Two truly special people.

We mentioned to Jeff we will be fundraising for St Mary's Hospice throughout our events this year and he donated the proceeds from his left over stock to start our fundraising.

Jeff and Sharon have supported the hospice with donations for years, we can't thank them enough.
